Florida Fishing Reports for
Tampa Bay
Florida Fishing Reports for Anna Maria
Island, Palmetto, and the Lower Tampa Bay - submitted April 29, 2009.
Spring
has sprung here on the lower Tampa Bay and the fishing could not
be hotter!
The Snook fishing has been absolutely dynamite catching great
numbers of fish up to 30 inches. We have been targeting these fish in
shallow water flats along the mangrove lines in Terra Cia Bay using
white
bait. We have been chumming the Snook up with success and getting alot
of action throwing in the frenzy of feeding. This week we have been
averaging 40 Snook per trip between 18 and 30 inches.
Our Trout fishing has been exceptional as well. We have been targeting
the deeper grass flats outside the outer sand bars of Terra Cia Bay
fishing
white bait in 4 to 6 feet of water catching Trout up to 28" inches. We
have been drifting the deeper grassy flats and when we hook up we set
anchor; fortunately we have been locating keeper Trout in good numbers.
Targeting the deeper flats also gives you an opportunity to catch many
other
quality fish as well. Along with the Trout we have caught Sharks up to
3 feet, Mackerel, Snapper, juvenile Grouper, and a occasional Tarpon.
Our weather has been a little to rough to target Tarpon here lately but
once this wind dies down we will be ready to go!
